KidTick is a task wall for families. Parents create and manage their children's information. We only collect what the task wall needs to work. We don't sell data, show ads, or use it for marketing.
Who we are
KidTick is run by HANA STORY HOUSE PTY LTD (ABN 69 685 425 343), based in Australia. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email support@kidtick.com.
What we collect
Parents
- Your Google account email. When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email and whether it has been verified. We use it to work out which family you belong to. Google also sends your name and profile photo, which stay in your browser's sign-in cookie and are not saved in our database. We never get your Google password.
- Parent PIN. We only store a hashed version, so we can't see the actual number.
Family information (entered by parents)
- The family name; each member's name (a nickname is fine), avatar icon, colour, and whether they are a parent or a child.
- Children's tasks, completion and approval records, tokens and wish lists; events on the family calendar.
Children
Children don't need an account. We don't collect children's email addresses, phone numbers, photos or location. All a child can do on the tablet is tick a task done or undo it, add a one-off task of their own, and request to redeem a wish. These are recorded in the family's data, where parents can see and manage them.
Tablets and phones
- Paired tablets: the device name, when it was paired, and when it was last used.
- Push notifications: if you turn notifications on, your browser gives us a push address. We only use it to send you task and event reminders.
- Weather: the tablet asks Open-Meteo for the weather. It sends the coordinates of the city you've set, not anyone's actual location.
Usage statistics
The app uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure load speed. They don't use advertising tracking cookies and we can't see individual people. This website loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google when the page loads.
Website waitlist
If you leave your email on this website, we only use it to send you the setup guide and notices about trying KidTick. The email is currently sent through Google (Gmail), so your address passes through Google's mail system. We keep it until you ask us to delete it; reply to any email from us to do that.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you signed in: your Google sign-in as a parent, the tablet's pairing (up to 400 days, and a parent can revoke it any time in settings), and the parent identity after entering the PIN on the tablet (30 days). There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Where your data is stored
Family data is stored in Google Cloud's Firebase Firestore database, currently in a data centre in Taiwan. The website and servers are hosted by Vercel, a US company. This means your data is stored or passes through places outside Australia. Each family's data is kept separate and can only be read by that family's parents and the tablets they've paired. The database itself isn't open to direct reads or writes from any browser.
How long we keep it
- Daily tasks are deleted automatically after 60 days.
- Invite links and pairing codes are deleted automatically one day after they expire.
- Other family data is kept until you delete it or ask us to delete it.
What you can do
Parents can edit or delete members, tasks, events and wishes in the app at any time, and can revoke tablets or remove a parent's email link. If you'd like a copy of your family's data, or want the whole family account deleted, email support@kidtick.com and we'll handle your request within 30 days. Self-serve export and deletion inside the app is still being built.
If you're not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Who we share it with
Only the companies that provide services to us: Google (sign-in, database) and Vercel (hosting, usage statistics). We don't sell your data to anyone or give it to advertisers. We only give the necessary information to authorities when the law requires it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we collect or use data, we'll update this page and the date above. For significant changes, we'll let parents know in the app first.
